Email: owner alerts and subscriber notifications
Quick answer
StillOnline uses email in two ways: (1) Owner alerts when your probes fail, recover, or hit 24h stability—sent to the address in settings; (2) Subscriber emails when customers subscribe on your public status page and you open or resolve an incident. They are separate flows with different templates.
Owner alerts (you)
| Event | Email tone |
|---|---|
| DOWN | Danger (red accent) |
| RECOVERED | Success (green accent) |
| 24h stability | Info (blue accent) |
Owner email while DOWN is throttled to about 15 minutes. Telegram/Slack repeat each probe.

Subscriber emails (your customers)
When someone subscribes on /s/{slug} with email verification:
- Incident opened — notified that service is degraded/down (product comms).
- Incident resolved — notified that service is operational again.
Subscribers do not receive per-check DOWN emails from probes—only incident lifecycle emails you control from the status page.
Setup steps
- Owner email — Enable email owner alerts in settings; confirm alert address.
- Events — Toggle down, recovered, 24h stability.
- Free plan — Email can be your single owner channel on Free.
- Subscribers — Publish a status page → customers use Subscribe → you post incidents in the dashboard.
- Do not confuse — Owner probe alerts ≠ subscriber incident mail.
FAQ
Same inbox for owner and subscribers?
They can be, but templates differ. Owner mail says [StillOnline] monitoring alert; subscriber mail references your status page incident.
Can I disable owner email but keep subscribers?
Yes—turn off email owner alerts; subscribers still get incident emails when you open/resolve.
Free plan subscribers?
Free includes up to 50 email subscribers per status page (see pricing).
Why no DOWN screenshot on this page yet?
We will add a DOWN owner email screenshot when available. Telegram/Slack DOWN samples can be added similarly.
